I have worked for George Wythe University for quite a while. Their main site was a coordinated effort. We had several people working on the design, and it’s built on a CMS of my own creation.
I have designed several sites for various events and school organizations.
I have also spent an enormous amount of time working on their Online-Services (OLS). OLS manages just about everything for the school. Admissions, registration and enrollments, grades, transcripts, assignments, messaging, automatic billing and donations.
I have been the core developer and designer for many of the main functions of OLS including:
- Registration – This area looks over the student records to determine what courses should be available. Lets them select their courses. Takes them through the payment options including automatic monthly billing. Then when this is complete their enrollments and assignments are created.
- Media Library – The Media Library allows the administrators to specify what media is available to users based on what classes they are in, if they are faculty, staff, or current students. The users then have the ability to search only the media they have privileges for, and the search results are ordered by relevance.
- Sections Assignment Management – OLS copies the default assignments for a course into the specific section. The mentor can then drag and drop the assignments and parts in their desired order, and customize their settings.
I have also re-written several areas of OLS to make the interface more user friendly, such as auto saving student assignments, and to make the code more object-oriented and reusable.
